백설참외 – White Korean Melon?

I picked up this little guy at the Hyundai supermarket.

It is a kind of melon which is normally yellow. The melon is called a 참외, or chamoe.

I was surprised to see a white one! So I bought it for 4,000 won ($4USD) and ate it up. The result? Though a Korean melon tastes more like a melon/pear hybrid to me, this one was more like a cucumber. Interesting. Even my husband tried it for the first time.

From Wikipedia: The Korean melon or chamoe (참외), following its Korean name, is a type of melon primarily grown in Korea. The fruit is typically about half-foot (15 cm) long and weighs slightly over 1 pound (0.45 kg). It has smooth, oblong with white stripes that run the length of the fruit. It has white flesh that is juicy and sweet, and the seed cavity is filled with small white seeds. Although most Korean melons marketed is yellow in color, there are variant cultivars of green or ivory colors. The flavor has been described as a cross between a honeydew melon and a cucumber. The fruits are usually eaten fresh; with its thin rind and small seeds, the melon can be eaten whole.

Mediheal Hair Sheep Steam Pack – seeing is believing!

Mediheal Hair Sheep Steam Pack

Ladies, let me talk about this. I found this pack by Mediheal in the front of Olive Young in Shinchon listed under “favorites”. I do like to do a hair pack from time to time, so I decided to make the purchase.

These usually run 5,000 won but it was on sale for 3,500.

I had no expectation. It’s just a hair pack right…?

My goodness! I LOVE IT. It’s a total new favorite. When you put it on your head, it creates a warming sensation after about 5 minutes. It looks exactly like the cartoon drawing on the front. I shampooed my hair and put it on. I left it on my head for 20-25 minutes and rinsed with cold water. No need to add conditioner.

My hair was silky smooth. It washed out well and I was pleasantly surprised by the baby powder aroma. I smell clean and lovely. It tamed my flyaways and I felt like I was in a shampoo commercial. It made my hair completely cooperative. (Not a fluke – I’ve used it more than once at this point!) The sad part is… I had nowhere to go that day. No one saw my beautiful hair but it happened.

I now do one before special events in the morning to manage my hair.

LOVE IT. My favorite product find in 2016!

January Nails

Alesia and I got our nails done https://www.instagram.com/nail_by_jin/ at Nail by Jin.

We had a little disappointment as Alesia wasn’t satisfied with her colors and had to repaint a nail and I had a stone fall off the very next day.

Also already the mirror powder on my nail is cracking from the next day.

It was also very expensive. Think 100 dollars and up…

But I doooo love these colors…

Got

Garosugil – Burgers at Gilbert’s and Cheesecake at C27!

Hey all!

I took a quick trip to Garosugil, and I can never go there without visiting my favorite burger place in Seoul – Gilbert’s Burgers and Fries!

I originally found this place thanks to Mango Plate and had my first one alone, but I was impressed by both the service and taste. I was hooked. After searching again and again with Alesia, I declare this as my favorite burger in Seoul.

(Alesia’s vote is “I Am A Burger” in Hongdae. More on that later!)

Look at this burger! This is the Mario burger. I got it as the set with fries.

Prices range from 10,000-15,000 for the burger sets.

Sign evidence. And a photo with my friend Jill!

But we need dessert now right? So Jill and I walked until we saw this gorgeous cheesecake place called C27. The interior is so trendy and there’s a giant piece of cheesecake on the wall! But I had to sneak these photos, as they noted that photos were not allowed.

Dutch Apple Cheesecake

Carrot Cheesecake

Jill was choosing…

She got chocolate cheesecake and I went for the dutch apple! Do you see the cute decoration of cheese on the side? But I don’t recommend mixing them…

Also the drinks here are really pricey. I paid 6,000 won for this Earl Grey tea. The slices were 8,000 a slice.

We *almost* ate the whole thing, but you know how heavy cheesecake can be. But it was delicious! It’s definitely a place to take friends to impress them.

Krispy Kreme – Pokémon Edition!

Jem here!

How cute are these Pokémon Donuts?

Despite Pokémon Go not being released in Korea (yet!?), I have seen promotions for all things Pokémon, including these sweet treats at Krispy Kreme!

I absolutely adore them!

I got a Pikachu and a Squirtle. The Squirtle was filled with strawberry jam!

They were available for 2,000 won each and 1,800 won for the Pokeball donuts!
